When Colin Tether saw a number of lone runners around the Evesham area he was inspired to set up a running club in September 2006.  Colin, who has been a keen runner for most of his life, put an article in the local newspaper and was pleasantly surprised when about 25 men and women arrived at the arranged meeting point.  Since then the number of members has continued to increase, with people of all ages and abilities.  Some join to run at a more leisurely pace to help keep fit and meet other people, while others train for more serious events.

Having taken part in the Race for Life in recent years, Sylvia Davies joined the running club when it first started and now encourages other women to join.  She has taken a recognised training programme which she demonstrates to complete beginners, enabling them to start off gently and build their running capability over a number of weeks.

Due to the wide range of abilities, members of the club use a simple handicap run of 1.3 miles to make sure that they train with the group that they are most comfortable with.

The club meets 2 or 3 times a week. New members are invited to join them at The Trumpet, Merstow Green, Evesham on Monday evenings at 7 pm, or contact any of the club organisers via the Contacts page.
